BMuZ Summer Camp 2024!
Welcome to the information and application page for BMuZ Summer Camp! BMuZ is a one week long music and dance based Summer Camp that happens in Berkeley, CA. BMuZ is open to all who are interested in coming and being a part of a week long fun and intensive camp that is taught mainly by Berkeley Unified teachers. Information for all available camps can be found below, as well as the link to this year's applications.
This year, we will be hosting 2 separate camps! The first camp that will happen from June 5-7 is an instrument based camp, where campers will get deeper knowledge of their instruments and dive into new techniques they can use, and will take place at Oxford Elementary School. The second week (June 10-14) will be our traditional ensemble based camp held this year at King Middle School.

BMuZ Instrumental and Vocal Technique Short Camp June 5-7
All students who will be in grades 5 though 9 in Fall of 2024 are eligible for this camp. This will be a half-day camp, with 5th through 6th graders coming in the morning from 8:30am-12:00pm, and 7th through 9th graders coming in the afternoon from 1:00pm-4:30pm. This camp will take place at Oxford Elementary School in Berkeley. Total price is $150 per student. All payments will be done after acceptances either by check or PayPal.
BMuZ Full Week Ensemble Camp
June 10-14
All Camps listed below are half day camps, with grade level for Fall of 2024. All half day camps are priced at $250 for the week, but signing up for both a morning and afternoon camp makes the total price $400! This camp will take place at King Middle School in Berkeley. All payments will be done after acceptances either by check or PayPal.
BMuZ Band Camp | GRADES 5-9
Bring all your friends, and make new ones as well. We will work together on sight reading, creating a beautiful group sound, locking in intonation, articulating with expression, and playing together as an ensemble. Activities include group warm-ups, all band rehearsals, sectionals, music games, and non-musical games.

BMuZ Jazz Camp | GRADES 5-9
Come improve your jazz skills, or try out playing jazz, blues, funk, and Latin music for the first time. Work on creating grooves, improvising, sight reading, and playing with good sound quality and group awareness. Activities include big bands, group warm-ups, improvisation workshops, sectional rehearsals, listening sessions, music games, and non-musical games.

BMuZ Strings Camp | GRADES 5-9
Students will play in a large string ensemble as well as in small chamber groups and musical electives (try a new instrument, fiddle tunes, etc). Focus will be on string playing technique as well as large/small ensemble skills.

BMuZ Fiddle Camp | GRADES 6-9
Start your summer off with some new and old fiddle tunes! Traditional fiddle tunes taught in a supportive environment with Berkeley High music students as mentors! Irish, Scottish, Bluegrass, and more to keep you busy the rest of the summer! This session is taught by Carlotta Jacobs, a member of the BUSD Visual and Performance Department. Open to all string players.

BMuZ Ukulele Choir Camp | GRADES 5-9
This unique camp offers students the opportunity to unite the skill of playing ukulele with singing! Designed for students who have either only played ukulele, or only sung, (or potentially both), campers will get to dive into both worlds. By the end of the week, campers will be singing with and without ukuleles and learn what choir is all about, while deepening their overall musical abilities.
